Nature is beautiful, but we don’t live in nature. Well, maybe you live way out in the sticks somewhere (aspirational) but many don’t. We trace cyclical paths through designed environments, insulated from each other through layers of manufactured surfaces and webs of diffuse interaction. Sometimes, it’s easy to lose yourself within these artificial fields of motion. We forget where we are, where others are, what we need, and what we have at our disposal.
But there are invisible traces, trajectories, landmarks and resources. We anchor ourselves in places of pleasure. We try to catch the signal. We try to hone in on our own.
Starbutter, like all of our scents, is 100% all natural. But it sort of doesn’t feel of the earth. It feels like a glimmer in the sky, a signal within noise. It echoes, weightless but magnetic, lapping at our skin with its reflective sheen. Herbal, fresh, but warm; laundry data. Not stagnant but tidal. The ingredients, here, are actually pretty rare and beautiful, but ultimately not super important. Eventually, the benzoin, labdanum, ambrette, cedar and guaiac wood just smells like magnetic, idealized human closeness, the skin glowing incandescent copper, drizzled with a starlit, quicksilver honey.
