Jovian makes raw, psychoactive, handmade perfume.

Raw means our scents go from seed to bottle in the fewest possible steps. Every fragrance is composed of 100% natural raw materials, extracted whole from plant matter and left otherwise untouched. We don’t use any synthetic aromas or naturally-derived isolates (identical to synthetics but with a larger environmental footprint). We also don’t add any preservatives other than pure alcohol.

Psychoactive means our fragrances are meant to be therapeutic, reframing your experience as you wear them. Plant extracts contain many psychoactive compounds. Some, called terpenes, are famed for colouring a cannabis strain’s effects, so we blend our scents to harness their power. We also conceive of the intention of each fragrance in collaboration with the astrological writer Jaime Wright. Thanks to her, each fragrance can also be used as a tool or talisman for adding specific energy into your daily transit. 

Handmade means our scents are blended in small batches in our studio in Tiohti:áke/Montréal. Between our complex ingredients and unique compositions, our fragrances are a million miles away from the one-dimensional clouds of commercial perfumes. They’re closer to the experience of encountering wayward scents in the wild: unpredictable, ever-changing, full of texture, energy and surprise.
